Tourney Formats
Tthe 8 ball must
go in the same pocket your first ball went into. You and your opponent
can't have the same first pocket. Once you have pocketed your 1st ball,
type in chat which pocket is yours. If by some chance you get the same
first pocket as your opponent, your opponent gets to pick your first pocket. In a 2 v 2 Switch style tournament, you play with a partner. You and your partner will play on the same table against the other team. You will shoot until you miss a shot, and then you will stand up and your partner will sit down and take the next turn. Some 2 v 2 switch tournaments you switch after every shot whether you miss or make your shot. Check on the main tourney page or with the TD for rules. Tables must be unrated for this format because of the switch. If your partner times out in this format, the team is disqualified. In a 2 v 2 Regular style tournament, you play with a partner. You and your partner play on separate rated tables against one member of the other team. If you win your match and your partner wins their match, you move on to the next round. If you and your partner both lose, you are out of the tournament (2 losses in double elim). If you win and your partner loses, a tie breaker needs to be played by players on each team that won their game. The team that wins the tie breaker goes to the next round. If your partner times out in this format, the team is disqualified. 2V2 REGULAR STYLE (OLD SKOOL) WITH A TWIST You & your partner play on SEPERATE RATED PROTECTED TABLES against one member of the other team. The 1st name on each team play each other, and the 2nd name on each team play each other. If you win your match & your partner wins their match, you move on to the next round. If you & your partner both lose, you are out of the tournament, unless the tournament is a double elimination, then you go to the bottom bracket. If you win & your partner loses, then here's the TWIST.... A tie breaker needs to be played by both players on each team on UNRATED PROTECTED TABLES with 60 SEC TIMERS SWITCH EACH SHOT. The team that wins the tie breaker goes to the next round!! If your partner times out in this format, the team is disqualified. In this tournament all balls except the 8 ball must be potted in one of the 4 corner pockets. The 8 ball must be potted in either middle pocket. Failure to pot a ball in the appropriate pocket will result in you giving your opponent ball in hand. If during the course of play, you pot a ball into a corner pocket, and slop another ball into a middle pocket, it is BIH to your opponent. The first player to pocket all of his/her balls and pocket the 8 ball will be the winner. Played With Regular Bootem
Rules except that the 8 ball is off limits if any ball touches the 8 on
your shot (including white) you will be booted 15-ball is played like a real 9-ball game, only we use all 15 balls on a training table since not all have access to 9-ball games. You must hit the lowest ball on the table first. You can use this "low ball" to sink anything you want. The person who legally drops the 15-ball first wins. If the 15-ball gets dropped illegally, it gets pulled out and placed on the "kitchen dot" where the 1-ball sits in a new rack. On the break you must hit the 1-ball (yellow solid). If you fail to hit the low ball first, ball in hand to your opponent. If you scratch it is also ball in hand. The ball order chart can be found on the TD's main tourney page. 1. Objective: To pocket his/her
own set in alphabetical order OBJECT
OF THE GAME- Pocket the 8 ball after pocketing all other balls in alternating
fashion (solid-stripe-solid..., or stripe-solid-stripe...). All games played on training/protected tables. Only scratches are considered fouls. All other shots must be played as they lay. All balls MUST be pocketed in an alternating order. If you pocket out of order you lose. Only exception is the break. On the break a ball and 1 ball alone MUST be pocketed. If this isn't done the player stands other sits re-racks and starts again. This continues until a legit break is made. After the break the player must continue to pocket balls in order. When a player fails to pocket the next appropriate ball it is his opponents turn. The second player continues where the first player left off in alternation. The game ends when: 1)8 ball is pocketed after all other balls are pocketed in alternating fashion. 2)A ball is pocketed out of alternating order. In a banks and combos tourney, all shots must be either a bank or a combo. A bank is when the cue ball banks off a rail and then hits your ball, or when you bank your ball into the rail before it goes into the pocket. A combo is where you hit one of your balls into another of yours to make one of them in the pocket. If you do not bank or combo one of your shots your opponent gets ball in hand. In bank the 8, the 8 ball must be banked into the called pocket. A bank is when the cue ball banks off a rail and then hits the 8 ball, or when you bank the 8 ball into the rail before it goes into the designated pocket. When banking the cue ball, it must be an obvious bank as in you cannot hit the rail right next to the 8 and claim it as a bank, it is not. This format is the same as Bank the 8 with the added twist of having to BANK the 8 into your last pocket. You may also bank the cue into the 8 unless otherwise specified by the TD. The bank must be an OBVIOUS bank, hitting the rail at the same time as the ball is not considered a bank. Please type in chat your last pocket immediately after potting your last ball. OBJECT OF THE GAME- Win the required number of games by legally pocketing your group of balls before the opponent legally pockets their group of balls. i.e. TD sets it up as in best of three. And then the player must win 2 of those games. In best of 5 it would be 3 games and so on. 1. All games are played on PROTECTED training tables. Whoever invites....their opponent breaks. Then stands. Second player shoots. Then stands. Continuing like this until end of game. 2. You may shoot any ball. They all have point values. The Object of the game is to reach a score of 21 without going over. First player to reach 21, or whose opponent goes over 21, wins 3. Point
totals for all the balls are as follows: ALL STRIPES = 3 points SOLIDS
are as follows: YELLOW = 1 BLUE = 2 RED = 3 PURPLE = 4 ORANGE = 5 GREEN
= 6 PINK = 7 BLACK = 8 4 TDs are needed for this format. Each TD creates a 4 person tournament keeping the format a secret. All tourneys are made to start at the same time. The TDs may join 1 of the other 3 tournaments. When each tournament has 4 players registered, the tournaments are all started at the same time, with each TD stating in the lobby what the format is for their tourney When ALL tournaments are finished, a 5th tournament is made, invitation only, 4 person. The winners of the 4 previous tournaments are invited to join this final tournament. The winner of the 5th tournament is the winner of the Blind Man's Bluff OBJECT OF THE GAME - To be the last player to avoid being booted from the table by the tournament director. This tournament is made as a 1v1 with a random seed. It will be played on a practice table and the table is to be made private. The tournament director will make all reports as participants are booted. The tournament director will always be the one to break a new rack. The break will be made by placing the cue ball behind the rack and shooting thru the middle of the rack with forward english to push the cue directly through entire rack. As long as the cue ball stays on the table and is not pocket locked or buried as to make it impossible for the 1st player to have a decent attempt at potting a ball, the FIRST break will stand. Players then play in order specified by the tournament director prior to start of tourney. (i.e. alphabetical order or reverse alphabetical order.) The TD will sit first and rack and break. First player will then sit and take 1 shot. If the player makes a ball and does not scratch, player stands and the next player sits and takes one shot, if this player makes a ball and does not scratch player stands and it is the next player's turn. This type of play continues through the order of play designated by the director. To keep this type of tourney moving quickly, the TD may designate a time limit to sit or you will be booted from the table and therefore out of the tourney. If you scratch, reset the table, shoot out of order, move the cue ball, or do not make a ball, you will be booted from the table and are then out of the tournament. If the player prior to you scratches, you may place the ball anywhere behind the kitchen line but must shoot outside of the kitchen to make a ball. This means you may not shoot a ball that is in the area marked as the kitchen on the table. Winner is the last person at the table that has avoided the BOOT!!! DUE TO THE REPORTING ERRORS THAT CAN OCCUR THERE WILL BE NO RULE CHANGES TO THIS FORMAT WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL OF THE ADMIN TEAM.....THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS. ****NOTE**** (If a player boots from the room and a timer is placed, he/she will not be moved in the order in which they started. Although it may help the TD with his boot order it does not make it fair for this player when they return). Remember, the only place guaranteed in a bootem is 1st place. Therefore, do not come whining to the TD or admin if you place 2nd, 3rd, or 4th and yet received no bux or recognition. Enter bootems at your own risk!!! OBJECT OF THE GAME - To be the last player to avoid being booted from the table by the tournament director. The only two changes will be that this format is played on two practice tables. The top bracket on one (TO BE PLAYED IN ALPHA ORDER) and the bottom bracket (TO BE PLAYED BY BOOT ORDER) on another. This format requires the assistance of another TD or HDTD but will be reported as a regular DE. The top bracket will be completed first and reported by the TD, then from a second boot list he will report the bottom bracket. Two separate boot orders will be maintained thus the need for Two officials in this match. After the top and bottom brackets are completed the two bracket winners will meet in a bootem finals. The top bracket winner will receive 2 boots and the basement winner will receive 1. Good luck one and all and have fun. (Although the names of the players at the second table appear to be in alpha order the boot list will show their true order) DUE TO THE REPORTING ERRORS THAT CAN OCCUR THERE WILL BE NO RULE CHANGES TO THIS FORMAT WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL OF THE ADMIN TEAM.....THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS. ****NOTE**** (If a player boots from the room and a timer is placed, he/she will not be moved in the order in which they started. Although it may help the TD with his boot order it does not make it fair for this player when they return) 1. Objective: To pot each ball into the pocket called. 2. Call: The ball specifically by color and set (stripe/solid); AND Call: The pocket by writing out in the chat box: top/bottom and middle/right/left. A called shot would sound like: red stripe into the top middle pocket. Note: When on the 8 ball, the arrow calls the pocket, no need to type in chat on 8 ball. 1. Objective: To pocket the entire set and eight ball into either the top or bottom center pockets 2. If a ball goes into a corner pocket, then tap the cue for a ball in hand. 3. If a player sinks the eight in a corner, player loses. 4. Played with Reg8 rules. In a color order tourney you must hit your balls into the pockets in a certain color order. The order is yellow, blue, red, purple, orange, green, pink, black. If you sink a ball out of order it's ball in hand to your opponent. The TD running the tourney will have a color chart on their tourney page for all to see what the order is. They will also have any rules that you may need to know on the tourney page or said in the lobby before the tourney starts. In a Cam (Camtasia) Tourney, this just requires you to record your pool game using camtasia, and then send to the respective TD for viewing to ensure you are not cheating. 1. Objective: To pot the eight ball into the pocket called by the opponent. 2. Played with Reg8 rules. *+*Similar to a combination of Rack n Run & Bootem ( with emphasis on cue control )*+* This Tourney is set up as 1v1. Played on private training table. Players are eliminated/booted one by one, as their opponent outscores them. 1 RACK PER PLAYER (if you run the table, TD will reset table and you can carry on). TD Invites All To A Private/Training Table. TD ARRANGES BALLS IN PROPER SET UP...Click here to see proper setup [TABLE SET-Up]. Sink As Many Balls As Possible WITHOUT Touching Any Other Balls In The Process. Only Cueball--to--Object Ball Contact. NO COMBO SHOTS or thats you out of game. Keep shooting until you miss, scratch, illegally hit other balls, or other illegal shot (combo's). When you mess up, count the total balls you LEGALLY MADE. Order of play is to be determined by the standings set forth by cases. The 2 players of the first match will play first with the player listed on top being the first to shoot. The player that pots the most balls will advance to next round with the other being booted from the table and therefore out of the tourney. This tourney is set up as a 1v1v1. OBJECT OF THE GAME- To legally
pocket your opponents balls before the opponents legally pocket your group
of balls. The player with a ball's still on the table, when all the other groups’ balls are legally pocketed, wins the game. All games to be played on training/protected tables. Only foul is a scratch. A
scratch results in both your opponents getting a ball back, to be placed
where the yellow was on break and immediately behind it. The last player to have balls left on table wins. If there is a bye the third set of balls are neutral, you may pocket them but do not need to.
A Double Elimination Tournament is the same as single elimination except that you have to lose twice before you are out. When you lose your first game you go down into the bottom bracket. If you lose another game you are out. In the finals, the winner of the top bracket only has to win once while the winner of the bottom bracket has to win twice to win the whole tourney. In this tournament, you must pot the 8 ball in the default pocket automatically marked by yahoo. In other words, the 8 MUST be potted in the top middle pocket. All other balls are potted according to regular 8 rules. The player that pots the most balls will advance to next round with the other being booted from the table and therefore out of the tourney In Fast and Furious the object is to sink the most balls in a rack in 60 seconds while competing with four or more players. This format is played at a private training table. The TD will time each player in alphabetical order. When the 60 seconds are up, the TD will say STOP. A ball that falls after the “STOP” is NOT counted. In event of a scratch, continue with a bih. Timer begins when the cue hits the rack. There will be two (2) one-minute timers. Incase of a tie, the timer for the 1st tie breaker rack will be set to 30 seconds, a second tiebreaker rack is 20 seconds, and third/thereafter is 10 seconds. 1. Objective: To not give
the opponent a ball in hand. NOTE: You can NOT lose off the break. i.e if you scratch on the break, that is NOT counted as a loss. Continue playing. Regular 8 ball, except BEFORE the break, each player picks 2 pockets that are off-limit to their opponent. You cannot both have the same pockets. Top pairer picks forbidden pockets for opponent first. If a player shoots a ball into those pockets (even accidentally) then BIH to opponent. The 8 ball also cannot be shot into those pockets - failure to do this results in a loss. 1. Objective: To shoot every
shot with full power. GILLIGAN (ALSO REFERRED TO A TOPS N TAILS) In this game, all solid balls must be pocketed in bottom 3 pockets of the table; all striped ball must be pocketed in the top 3 pockets of the table. The player who legally pockets the 8 ball after pocketing their group of object balls, wins the game. All game must be played on rated/protected tables. After the break, the balls are to be pocketed in the appropriate pockets. I.E. solids go in bottom pockets and stripes go in top pockets. Each player must pocket their designated ball group in the appropriate pockets. If a player pockets out of order, They MUST give bih back to opponent. The 8 ball MUST be pocketed in the players last pocket if it is not other player wins. If a players last pocket, for any reason, ends up being one of the opponents pockets... that player shall claim last pocket in the one directly above or below the incorrect pocket. (example: If solids pockets their last ball in the top right corner, then they will have last pocket in the bottom right corner.) 1. Objective: To win a game
designated by the inviter. In this format, the 8 ball must go in the same pocket your last ball went into. You and your opponent can't have the same last pocket. Please type in chat your last pocket immediately after potting your last ball. If by some chance you get the same last pocket as your opponent, your opponent gets to pick your last pocket. The only time there will be a re-rack awarded during any last pocket tourney is if during the course of play, the 8 ball is inadvertently buried in a pocket which belongs to neither player thus resulting in a situation where neither player can legally win the game. If a player intentionally marks and pots the 8 ball in a pocket that is NOT the pocket their last ball went in to ‘steal’ yahoo points from their opponent said player will be put in the penalty box for 3 days. If a player (A) intentionally or unintentionally pots their opponent’s (B) last ball in the pocket said player (A) has already claimed as their own (A) last pocket, said player (A) will lose the rights to that pocket and their opponent (B), who they tried to ‘bitch’ will then get to choose which pocket said player (A) must pot the 8 ball in. If a player (A) intentionally or unintentionally shoots their opponent's (B) last ball into a pocket that has not already been designated as anyone’s pocket, t opponent (B) then receives the right to name which pocket they (B) wish to be considered their (B) last pocket in which to pot the 8 ball. Unrated, protected tables. Played with reg 8 rules, however the td will enter the table at random then the players must switch seats, the td will leave and can enter at anytime again, the players may not invite the td to the table all problems must be spoken in either the lobby or an HQ table. The object of this format is to sink as many balls as you can in a row. All games are played on a training table. You can lag for the break or in a tourney the top bracket player can have choice of break. The TD of the particular tourney will make the rules. The number of rounds each person gets is determined by the TD, usually 2 or 3 rounds. A scratch on the break is a rerack, a scratch during your run and your turn is over. If you don't sink any balls on the break, shoot again. However, if you run the 1st rack, you MUST pot a ball when breaking the 2nd rack (and each subsequent rack thereafter), failure to do so ends your turn. Please type the number of balls made for your turn at the table before standing up. The player with the most number of balls sunk after the set number of rounds advances. 1. Objective: To finish the
set by potting the red ball (solid or stripe) last; that is, the last
two shots should be the red ball then the eight ball. the two red balls are not to be pocketed, if a player pockets one intentionally or untentionally they will be booted... when the 2 red balls are left on table td will sit re-rack and start next rack The TD can make a tourney with a different colored ball. In rotation, you must pot your balls by rotating the pockets clockwise. For example, you pot your first ball in the top middle pocket, you must pot your second ball in the top right pocket, third ball in bottom right pocket and so on until you have made all of your balls and the 8 ball. Failure to advance to the next pocket clockwise will result in giving bih to your opponent. The winner is the one who pots all their balls and the 8 ball. Same as the 2 v 2 Switch style tournament, except in Scottish Doubles you switch after each shot rather than each miss. e.g. if Bill and Sue team up, Bill shoots the break and pots a ball, Bill stands and Sue shoots, Sue also pots a ball, Sue stands and its back to Bill's shot, However Bill misses now it goes to the other team and they continue, as Bill and Sue did. If your partner times out in this format, the team is disqualified. In secter ball The TD invites 7 players max ( there is only 7 colors of balls in the table ) to the table. After inviting the Td tells each player a different color via room chat or yim. All players get a different color which only the player and the Td knows. The player has to protect his/her balls (solid and stripe) so that the other players can't pot them (ie: by getting them behind some other colored ball etc.. ). Each player gets a chance and after taking one shot stands. Next plays sits, takes one shot, stands. This continues in alphabetical order. When 1 ball remains in the table the game is over. The player who was given the color of the last ball left on the table WINS. In a Single Elimination Tournament, the first loss you have you are out. Report your loss on the tourney page right away to keep the tourney moving. ALL your balls must fall where YOU shoot your FIRST ball (not including the break). After pocketing your first ball, type your pocket into the table chat window. For each ball you pot in any pocket other than your designated pocket, you will receive one (1) foul. (ie: potting 2 balls in pockets that are not your designated pocket will result in 2 fouls and therefore cause you to lose the game) In the case of losing the game by fouling out, you will then forfeit to your opponent giving them yahoo points and a yahoo win on their yahoo stats. However, you can avoid receiving a foul by potting one of your balls in your designated pocket at the same time you pot one of your balls in a non-designated pocket; you will not receive a foul but you will give ball in hand to your opponent. You and your opponent MAY NOT have the same pocket in this tourney. If your first ball goes in the same pocket as your opponent, your opponent gets to pick your pocket, AND you will give your opponent ball in hand, AND it will be considered as potting a ball in a pocket other than your designated pocket there-by a foul will be assessed against you so potting any other ball in the wrong pocket will result in you losing the match. You MUST pot the 8 into your designated pocket, NO EXCEPTIONS. If you pot the 8 in any pocket other than yours, it will be counted as a loss. You may pocket as many of your opponents balls as you wish without BIH penalty, assuming you hit your own ball first. If you SCRATCH, or make ANY of YOUR balls in ANY other pocket (without making a ball in your designated pocket) = Ball In Hand to your opponent. OBJECT OF THE GAME: To be the first player to legally pocket the 8 ball. Games are played on unrated protected tables. Making the 8 on the break is a re-rack. Once the break has been made, there is no reason to shoot any ball except the 8 unless you wish to do so to achieve better shape on the 8 ball. There is NO BALL IN HAND at any time during this tournament. If your opponent scratches, you will shoot from the place that yahoo returns the cue to the table. Once the 8 has been potted, the game is over. The loser (which yahoo will say is the winner) will report the loss to the tourney page immediately to keep the tourney moving. TD will invite you to a private
training table. Each players start with 3 lives. If there is nothing made
on the break you get one more shot. Person from BEGINNING or END of alphabet
breaks and work in reverse order (TD will annouce at table which order
to go). Take only one shot per turn You may hit any ball or combination
of balls or banks (including slop unless noted by TD to call shots) Then
stand and allow your opponent to sit. Missing a shot is a loss of a life
A scratch is also a loss of a life even if a ball is made (BIH for next
person) In a regular Swiss, all in the tourney will play all rounds win or lose until there is one person undefeated. The number of rounds played will be determined by how many people are in the tournament and how many rounds it takes to have only one undefeated player. If you have to leave before a Swiss is over, you must notify the TD to take you out before they advance to the next round. This way you will not lose your next round games. In a true Swiss, there is a set number of rounds and all players play all those rounds win or lose. If it is set for five rounds, you play 5 rounds even if there is only person undefeated after 4 rounds. Sometimes there is no winner in a true Swiss tourney. TOP N TAILS (ALSO REFERRED TO AS GILLIGAN) In this game, all solid balls must be pocketed in bottom 3 pockets of the table; all striped ball must be pocketed in the top 3 pockets of the table. (example: If solids pockets their last ball in the top right corner, then they will have last pocket in the bottom right corner.) Striped balls must be potted in either the top middle, bottom left and the bottom right pockets. Solid Balls must be potted in either the bottom middle, top left and top right pockets. Failure to pot in the correct pocketswills result in you giving BIH to your opponent. OBJECT OF THE GAME - To be the last player to avoid being booted from the table by the tournament director. In this tournament, after the break the td will choose a ball that is on the table NOT able to be shot in within first couple shots then announce it at the table as the mystery ball for that RACK...... The person to sink this ball gets BIH on his/her NEXT turn...... it is a use it or lose it! IF the person getting BIH next turn doesn't come up until a new rack and new mystery ball designated then they still get their due BIH but CANNOT use it to sink the new mystery ball..... the only way to make an attempt on the new mystery ball would be to forfeit their BIH and try just as anyone else would!..... they CAN however use this BIH to try to eliminate their next opponent by making a ball with a safety leave thereby advancing them closer to being last man standing. All other regular bootem rules apply. |
