Tourneypool League Rules

(Recently added/changed rules are in RED)

We are a myleague, and we do follow cases rules; however, cases also gives us the opportunity to set our own rules in addition to OR remove rules we do not participate in, such as, one we do not have in tourneypool is formal challenges!

Top 10 members must play a league game or in a tourney at least every other day or they will be dropped in ladder rank.

League Name

Your league name must match your Yahoo ID EXACTLY. If it is not exact, you will not be able to play league games or participate in tournaments. If your yahoo name does not have capital letters, DO NOT USE CAPITAL LETTERS IN YOUR LEAGUE NAME.

No yahoo provisional name allowed. You must maintain a yahoo rating of 1200 or better to participate in league and/or tournament games.

Only one (1) league account per member. If found to have more than 1 league account, all names may be kicked.

Your e-mail address must be kept current on the site, as it is the only way we have of contacting you. Use the USER EDITOR if you need to change it. If it is discovered that your email account is NOT correct, you will be KICKED from the league.

If your league name is offensive to other users or contains profanity your account will be removed.

If your league name is found to be abusive toward another member your account will be removed.

If your league name is found to be too similar to an existing member's nickname you will have to choose another name.

You are only allowed to change your league name once per week. If you change your name, you will wait the 7 days until cases allows you to change again. Admin will NOT change it for you. Keep in mind that continually changing your league name is very annoying to other members.

Removal for inactivity is completely automated. No exceptions are made to this rule. Our members want an active league full of opponents who can be easily found.

The Break

The cue ball must be moved from the yahoo default location before breaking.

Tap breaks are NOT allowed!!! At least 2 balls from the rack must hit a rail.

Making the 8 ball on the break is a re-rack in ALL league and/or tourney games.

If you make both a stripe and a solid on the break, you may not take ball in hand. Choose either stripes or solids then shoot without moving the cue ball. If you move the cue ball after choosing your preference of either stripes or solids, you will be DQed from a tourney and will be required to report a loss to your opponent if in a league game.

Reporting

To report a loss of a league game go to report loss and fill in your name, your password and opponents name then click 'Submit this loss'. If you came into Crossed Cues via the link on the Tourneypool home page, you can fill in the report loss short cut located in the upper left corner of the lobby. All league game losses are to be reported immediately upon completion of the game. You may not play another league or in a tournament until all losses have been reported.

To report a loss of a tourney game, go to the tournament page and click on 'REPORT'. Enter your password and then click on the radio dot in front of your opponent's name, then click 'submit'. All tourney game losses are to be reported immediately upon completion of the game. Failure to report a tourney loss serves only to hold up the tourney.

If you won a league game and your opponent has failed to report the loss and 24 hours has expired since the game was played you can complete the unreported match form located on the left side of the tourneypool home page. Before submitting information on an unreported match, make sure it has been 24 hours since the match was played and that you have exhausted all options (IE: private message, ask in lobby, email) available to you in getting the match reported. Also make sure you enter your opponent's name exactly as it is listed in the league membership.

Glitches

Yahoo glitches happen to all of us from time to time. We all have to learn to live with them and move on. The only glitch we have our own rules on is the ball in hand when making both of stripe and solid on the break or before it has been determined which player has which type of ball. When making both a stripe or solid on any shot, you may not take ball in hand. Taking ball in hand during a tourney will result in you being DQed from the tourney.

Timers

There will be a 7 minute timer enforced in tourney games.

There will be a 5 minute timer on league games if your opponent gets booted. If you are playing a league game and your opponent gets booted, invite a TD to your table and request a timer. If your opponent does not come back within the 5 minutes, you win the game. At this time, invite the TD to sit. The TD will then forfeit the game to you. Submit a Non-Reported match claim and have the TD send an email to tex, (lowa_0utlaw@casesladder.com) to have the game reported for you.

If while playing a league game your opponent gets booted, you may ask for any league member in the lobby to come to your table to cancel the game. Neither player receives credit for game

If during a tourney game your opponent is absent from the lobby or gets booted invite the TD and they will start a timer for you. If your opponent does not get back in the 7 minutes, you will win by default and be advanced to the next round.

If you are playing a league game when the TD announces the standings are up, you will be allowed to finish the league game with a 7 minute timer being started on you.

If you are playing a non-league game when the TD announces the standings are up, there will be a 7 minute timer started on you and if you do not end the non-league game and start your tourney game within the 7 minutes, you will lose the tourney game by default and your opponent will be advanced to the next round. IF NEITHER PLAYER IN A TOURNEY MATCH STARTS THEIR GAME IN A TIMELY MANNER (WITHIN 2 MINUTES) A TIMER OF 7 MINUTES WILL BE PLACED ON THE MATCH. IF AFTER THE 7 MINUTE TIMER, NEITHER PLAYER IN THE MATCH HAS MADE A TABLE AND INVITED THE TD, BOTH PLAYERS WILL TIME OUT. THE PLAYER WHO ENTERED THE TOURNEY 1ST WILL BE ADVANCED TO THE NEXT ROUND AND THEN WILL AUTOMATICALLY LOSE TO THE OPPONENT WHO HAS BEEN WAITING FOR THE PRIOR MATCH TO BE PLAYED. YOU MUST BE AWARE OF YOUR YOU OWN ABILITIES AT MULTI-TASKING!!

Etiquette

Please show respect for fellow members while playing or watching league and/or tourney games. Disrespect to fellow league members will not be tolerated in this league. There will be no coaching or helping other players during league and/or tourney games with the exception of partner tourneys in which case partners and only partners can coach each other.

The lobby (Crossed Cues) is for TDs to advertise tourneys and for people to chat and get information about the league. The lobby is not for fighting. If you have a problem, please take it to a private table with the people involved.

There is to be no swearing in the lobby or at league//tourney tables.

Caps are only for TDs running tournaments so they can be noticed easily. Please do not use caps in the lobby unless you are hosting a tourney.

Each lobby has its share of lobby rats and Crossed Cues is no different. If someone is talking trash in the lobby or is trying to start trouble, they are considered to be a lobby rat. Do not respond to these troublemakers as it will only server to cause you to be penalized. If you are unable to watch what they are saying without responding, please put them on ignore. To put someone on ignore, double click their name to the right side of the lobby. In the window that appears, toward the bottom, you will see 'ignore', put a check mark in the tiny box beside 'ignore' then click close. You will no longer see what this person is typing in the lobby.

Family Members

In today's world, many families have more than one computer and also have them networked so all can access the internet. We have received word from cases that each individual myleague can decide whether or not to allow people who live in the same household to team up together in partner tourneys. Because of the family atmosphere we share here in tourneypool, if you have a child or spouse that is also a member of this league, you may team together in partner tourneys. There is a stipulation that you may not do this using the same computer. This is easily checked and if you are found to be playing on the same computer, both will be DQed from tourney and penalized.

Although you are able to team together in partner tourneys, you may not play league games against each other. This is easily tracked and if found to be playing leagues against each other, both will be penalized.

Cheating

It should go without saying that we will not stand for cheating of any kind. This includes, but is not limited to, breaking rules, use of any type of aiming software, reporting false results, or otherwise tampering with league ranks.

Force forfeiting is considered to be not only poor sportsmanship but also a form of cheating and is strictly prohibited in Tourneypool.

By the same token, if you feel a member is doing any of the above, or any other type of cheating, you are not to take it upon yourself to confront the suspected member. Take your concerns to an admin and only an admin, they will in turn deal with it. Before going to an admin with an accusation of cheating, be sure to have as much documentation as possible. Accusations with no documentation will be considered invalid. To further curtail the use of aiming software, the admin of this league reserve the right to request any member to record all league and tourney games and submit the recordings to our webmaster for viewing. Refusal to honor any such request will be considered as an admission of guilt by the member.

League Games

Leagues games are to be asked for in the lobby generically. (ie: lg anyone?) No one is to be singled out when requesting a league game.

League and/or tourney games are to be played on rated, protected tables unless stated otherwise by the TD.

All league members may watch all league and/or tourney games.

You may play more than 1 game, be it tourney or league, at a time. However, be aware of your own skills of multi-tasking. If you are too slow playing multiple games during a tourney, you run the risk of being timed out. If a timer is placed on you for holding up a tourney the timer will be restarted at the point in which the timer was removed. Once you time out, the TD will report your loss.

You may not be sitting at a practice table while playing in a tourney and/or league game.

You may play the same person up to seven (7) league games per day, however, you are not required to play all seven (7) if you choose not to. Races are not allowed.

You must play all members who ask for a league game. Refusing to play anyone because of their rank in the league or yahoo rating will result in you being penalized.

Force forfeiting is strictly forbidden. If you force forfeit during a league and/or tourney game, (unless you are told to do so by a TD, HDTD or ADMIN) you will be penalized.

Penalty Box

If you find yourself in the penalty box:

You may not play league games
You may not play in any tournaments
You may not represent Tourneypool in any interleague competitions
If you are a TD, you may not host any tournaments

Re-Racks

You are never to ask your opponent for a re-rack if you lose the game by potting the ball early or for failing to follow the format of a tourney or league game. Re-racks for these situations are not allowed.

If the 8 ball is potted on the break, there is to be a re-rack.

The only other instance where a re-rack is warranted is if during a special tourney format and during regular play, the 8 ball is put in a position to disallow either player to win, then a re-rack will be declared.

Intentionally maneuvering the 8 ball into a position to disallow either player to win will result in the player that intentionally put the 8 in this position in the hopes of a re-rack losing the match.
